The final type of NPC that can be seen without needing to spend money is the robber. If you see one of these customers in your store, you should restock shelves that hold expensive items to maximize your profits. These types of customers will not be hesitant to buy expensive supplies such as electronics, and will usually buy plenty of items. There is a rare type of customer, usually nicknamed the "rich customer." They can be identified by a light blue top hat with a purple stripe, known as Diamond top hat in the ROBLOX catalog, a monocle, known as Monocle in the ROBLOX catalog, it has a light blue torso and black legs. Finally, they will also have a random face on their avatar. Sometimes, they will accidentally spill something on the floor, which can have a negative impact on your store if you or your janitor doesn't clean it.Ĭustomers will have yellow heads and arms, with their torso being a random color, and their legs being black. If a spot becomes available before they lose their patience, they will get in the line and continue with their routine. If the lines stay fully occupied, the customer will lose their patience and leave the store. If your lines at registers are long, the customers wanting to check out will stand and wait for a while, repeatedly exclaiming the lines are too long. Occasionally, a customer will leave your store without buying anything and state that they couldn't find what they were looking for. They are the NPCs that buy your products and judge your store based on its features. Restock the items once the shelf runs out of supplies for customers to buy.Ĭustomers are the most commonly seen NPC in this game. Once they check out, you make a profit due to the fact that supplies are on sale for twice the amount that it costs for you to order them. Soon, customers should start coming into your store to buy items. Then, supply your shelves with the items that you are able to put them on, as there are separate shelves for separate items. If you want your store to start making profits, you will need to buy at least one shelf and a register, which uses some of the $5,000 you start off with. In order to start your own store, you will need to claim a vacant land.

Plus I got a free robux blaster gear out of it. What was it like to develop a game that was featured in an official Roblox event? That was a great opportunity, not too much work and I think it was the best month Retail Tycoon has had on record. I absolutely love AI and it’s the best feeling to write a bunch of logic and then watch a hundred little artificial people run around doing their own thing. What did you enjoy most while developing Retail Tycoon? Definitely making the thought processes for the NPCs. On the upside, I learned a heck of a lot about putting a game together and I’m sure I’ll have a lot less difficulty with future projects. Due to a mix of not planning anything out and general inexperience, I think I’ve rewritten most of the game at this point. What challenges did you have to overcome while developing? What was the most challenging? Working through my own incompetence has been a big part of making the game for me. That certainly put a lot more pressure on me. I was pretty surprised when the game exploded and had thousands of players online during the beta before I even advertised anything. What was it like developing Retail Tycoon? It’s been a fun experience, I’ve definitely learned a lot.
